Good News
We begin the season of Advent in this new liturgical year. Advent means to prepare for the coming of the Lord. Today's gospel reminds us to prepare. Jesus tells his disciples. "one will be taken, one will be left;" to prepare ourselves for the "Great Guest" to come.

CCD NEWS - Classes will be held this Sunday, Dec. 2nd at Holy Spirit. Grades 1-6 will meet from 10:15 - 11:45 AM, Grades 7-8-9 meet from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. The Confirmation class will not meet.

Members of the Rosary Sodality will attend the 10:30 Mass on Dec. 2nd followed by their Christmas luncheon and exchange of gifts. Please remember to bring a non-perishable item for the CAC. All women of the parish are invited to attend.

WHIST PARTY - Sun. Dec. 2nd at 6:00 PM in the church hall. Doors open at 5:30 PM.

This coming Friday is First Friday of the month. Mass will be at 7:30 AM.

Next Sat., Dec. 8th is a Holyday of Obligation - the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Mass will be at 5 PM on Friday at St. Joseph and 8 AM on Saturday at Holy Spirit. You must go two (2) times next weekend.

"Oplatki" or Christmas wafers are available before and after Masses. A package costs $4.00. Christmas cards of the church are also available - $1.00 each or $5.00 per package (6 cards and envelopes).

Recently, the cupola on the church roof was re-painted and the cross was gold plated. The cost of the project was $21,050.00 which was paid from the renovation account in the diocese.

Solicitation Notice - we would like to bring to your attention a new policy for St. Joseph's Church for soliciting donations by our parishioners. Any persons soliciting businesses on behalf of St. Joseph's Church must have a letter of introduction signed by Fr. Tom. Thank you for following this new policy.

Christmas Fair at Holy Spirit - Sat. Dec. 8th from 8 - 2. Holiday Ham Dinner with all the fixings after the 4 PM Mass on the 8th. Tickets are on sale before and after Masses at St. Joseph's. Price: $8 for adults, $4 for children.

Children and Adult Christmas Choir News Flash - there will be 2 choirs for Christmas Eve Masses this year.

  1. Children's Choir (open to all CCD students) for the 4 PM Christmas Eve Vigil Mass. Rehearsals held every week from 9:45 to 10:15 AM in the Church beginning on Sun. Nov. 25. You must attend each rehearsal!!
  2. Adult Midnight Mass Choir (open to both Holy Spirit & St. Joseph Parishes). First rehearsal will be on Thurs, Nov. 29th from 7 - 8:30 PM. All other rehearsals will take place on Weds. (Dec. 5, 12 & 19).
Please inform Sharon Sawtell (978-632-7216) if you plan on joining either choir so sufficient music may be prepared. All rehearsals are held at Holy Spirit Church. Thank you!

OUR 100TH ANNIVERSARY - through Dec. 16th, a Scratch Ticket will be sold to 150 people only on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a variety of prizes awarded on Dec. 16th. Tickets are $20 each. There are only a few tickets left.

November/December Parish Project - celebrating our 100th Anniversary, we will be collecting 100 items for the CAC in Gardner. They will be given to the CAC after Christmas or as soon as 100 of them are collected. Please help St. Joseph provide for the poor of Gardner.
