Good News
John the Baptist preaches in the wilderness and baptizes. He tells the people to repent for the forgiveness of sins. It is John who makes the valley straight. As we get closer to Christmas, let us look into our hearts and cleanse them for Christ.

CCD NEWS - Class this Sunday, Dec. 9th at Holy Spirit for the First Penance Class. Class meets from 10:15 - 11:45 AM. Classes on Dec. 16th are Grades 1-6 from 10:15 - 11:15 AM, Grades 7-8-9 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM and Confirmation Class from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.

Parish Council Meeting - Mon. Dec. 10th at 6:30 PM in the church hall.

Oplatki or Christmas wafers are available before and after Masses. A package costs $4.00. Christmas cards of the church are also available - $1.00 each or $5.00 per package (6 cards and envelopes).

CONFESSIONS are heard every Saturday at 2:30 PM at St. Joseph church.

OUR 100TH ANNIVERSARY - through Dec. 16th, a "Scratch Ticket" will be sold to 150 people only on a first come, first serve basis. Next Sunday after the 10:30 Mass, the drawing for the tickets will be held. There are only a few tickets left.

Christmas Flowers - all donations for CHRISTMAS FLOWERS must be received no later than the weekend of Dec. 15/16 if you want the name of your loved ones listed on our Christmas Bulletin.

A Penance Service will be held on Sun., Dec. 16th at 7:00 PM in Holy Spirit Church. All CCD students are asked to participate and any parishioner who wishes to go to confession at that time.

Calendars for 2008 are available at the church entrances. Please take a calendar home. Out thanks to Poliks Funeral Home and the Polish American Veterans of Gardner for their partnership in providing these calendars for our parish.

Holy Rosary Sodality members are asked to pay their dues before the end of the year. Please see Yvonne Kulczyk.

Children and Adult Christmas Choir News Flash - there will be 2 choirs for Christmas Eve Masses this year.

  1. Children's Choir (open to all CCD students) for the 4 PM Christmas Eve Vigil Mass. Rehearsals held every week from 9:45 to 10:15 AM in the Church beginning on Sun. Nov. 25. You must attend each rehearsal!!
  2. Adult Midnight Mass Choir (open to both Holy Spirit & St. Joseph Parishes). First rehearsal will be on Thurs. Nov. 29th from 7 - 8:30 PM. All other rehearsals will take place on Weds. (Dec. 5, 12 & 19).
Please inform Sharon Sawtell (978-632-7216) if you plan on joining either choir so sufficient music may be prepared. All rehearsals are held at Holy Spirit Church. Thank you!

CHRISTMAS MASSES - Masses for Christmas will be at 4:00 PM on Dec. 24th and midnight at Holy Spirit Church, 7 & 10:30 AM at St. Joseph, 9 AM at Holy Spirit on Christmas Day.

November/December Parish Project - celebrating our 100th Anniversary, we will be collecting 100 items for the CAC in Gardner. They will be given to the CAC after Christmas or as soon as 100 of them are collected. Please help St. Joseph provide for the poor of Gardner. Donations (any non-perishable food) can be left in the boxes provided at the back of the church. Thank you.

Museum Exhibit - we are looking for pictures, sacramental certificates, programs from past parish events and anything else that we might use in our upcoming exhibit at the Gardner Museum. If anyone has an item of interest, please contact Ann at 978-632-7638. Deadline for submittal is Dec. 16th. The exhibit will be opening in the Spring 2008.
