Good News

Today, we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. This is the last Sunday in Ordinary Time before Advent. Christ is the king of the world and universe. To Him belongs everything. In celebrating this feast, we ask that He look upon us and bless us in our everyday ways of life.

CCD NEWS - No CCD on Nov. 30th because of the Thanksgiving Weekend. Classes resume Dec. 7th.

Turkey Raffle, Sat. Nov. 22nd at P.A.C.C. sponsored by Holy Spirit Parish. The gathering starts at 7 PM. Come and maybe you can win a turkey or other goodies.

Today, at 2 PM, an Anointing Service will be held at St. Joseph Church. Anyone who has an illness who wishes to be anointed, this is the time to ask the Lord to heal you.

ONE LAST RAFFLE TO GO - to close out the parish anniversary, a special lottery raffle will be on sale from now to Dec. 7th. On Sun., Dec. 7th, we will have a drawing of the lottery. The price is $10/ticket. Champagne toast after 10:30 AM Mass. The 120 CLUB will resume after the new year.

A collection for The Catholic Campaign for Human Development will be taken up this weekend, Nov. 22-23. CCHD is committed to helping people change the conditions that keep them living in a state of poverty. These compassionate projects support low-income people as they work together to improve educational opportunities, create jobs and improve access to services for the disabled. Please be generous.

This week we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a day to give thanks to God and one another for all we have. Enjoy the day. The parish office will be closed on Thursday and Friday at St. Joseph.

Sodality Christmas Party - will be held Dec. 7th at 1:30 PM. It will be a pot luck dinner. Please sign up by Nov. 30th at the back of the church. You do not need to bring a dish to attend the party.

Oplatki or Christmas wafers are on sale at $4.00 a package. Christmas cards of the interior of the church are also available at $1.00 a card.

The 2009 Mass Book is available for anyone who would like to reserve Mass times for next year. I will be available before and after Masses this weekend. Please reserve your special times early.

FESTIVAL OF TREES - the 4th annual Festival of Trees will be held at Gardner Museum from Nov. 13 - Dec. 6. St. Joseph Parish is sponsoring a tree this year. Please visit the museum and take chances on winning many unique trees.

St. Martin's Fair - St. Martin's Church in Otter River will hold its annual Holiday Fair from 9-3 on Sat. Dec. 6 and from 9-1 on Sun. Dec. 7th at the American Legion Hall, 3 Central St., Baldwinville. There will be raffles, Chinese auction, Polish auction, 40 gift baskets, crafts, toys, etc. Lunch is available as well as coffee and pastry throughout the day.
