Good News

This first Sunday of Lent tells us of the temptations of Jesus in the wilderness. A we begin this holy season, we are reminded of the sufferings that Jesus endured. He asks us to follow Him in our everyday struggles that we may endure to the end.

CCD NEWS Regular classes will be held today March 1st. Attendance at the 9:00 AM Mass is mandatory. CCD classes will follow from 10-11 AM for grades 1-10. The March schedule has CCD classes meeting on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and a Penance service on the 29th.

Rosary Sodality will have a meeting is Sunday, March 1st at 1:30 PM in the church hall.

First Friday of the Month is this week. Mass will be at 7:30 AM. It is also World Day of Prayer. We have many things to pray for. Let it be something special this day.

This is the last week for renewing your Catholic Free Press subscription. If you do not renew, you will be dropped. Every subscription helps pay for our bill ($1520.00).

ATTENTION ALL SINGERS - we will have a joint Easter choir for all Holy Week services. All rehearsals will be held at Holy Spirit, beginning on Wed., March 11th at 6:30 PM. Please call Sharon Sawtell (632-7216) if you plan to sing so she can prepare your music. All are welcome!!!

During Lent:

Relay for Life - many thanks to all who contributed to, attended or supported our hot dog dinner. Net proceeds were $435.00. Walker forms are now available for anyone interested in joining St. Joseph Trotters. Please call Ellie (630-3079) or Mike (632-8457).

Flea Market - Holy Rosary Church, Sat. March 7th from 8 AM - Noon in the church hall. All proceeds to benefit Holy Rosary School.

Next Weekend, March 7-8, we will begin our Partner in Charity Appeal for the diocese. The IN-PEW collection cards will be available in all the pews. Please take one and return it with your donation as soon as possible. Our goal at St. Joseph Parish is $7,000.00. Please help us make our goal despite our economy. It is for charity and education.

Presentation of the Gospel According to John - Join in a wonderful Lenten Program on Fri., March 6th at 7:30 PM at Fitchburg High School. Leonardo Defilippis will perform a dramatic presentation of the entire Gospel According to John. You will experience a mystical encounter with Christ, face-to-face in a moving portrayal of the Son of God. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Suitable for ages 7 & up. See Fr. Tom for tickets.

POLISH PLAY - Karski will be presented in a U.S. premiere in Worcester, on April 20-22 at 7:30 PM at the Hibernian Cultural Centre, 19 Temple St., Worcester. Jan Karski was a hero of the Polish resistance to the Nazis, and is often referred to as the man who tried to stop the Holocaust. Monday opening night performance will be followed by a panel discussion and a "meet the cast" reception. Opening night tickets are $20, Tues. & Weds. are $15. See Fr. Tom for tickets.
