Good News

Someone in the crowd asked Jesus, "how many will be saved?" Jesus said, "try to enter through the narrow gate." The things we do in life are for ourselves and for others. If we keep faithful to the Lord, we will be saved.

To all who participated in last Sunday's Picnic - THANK YOU. It was a wonderful time by everyone. The weather co-operated and many people showed up. After all we had done with all the tables and raffles, the net profit was $5,501.00. To the chair people - a job well done!

Next weekend, a special collection for the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland for priests and seminarians to study abroad will be taken up at all Masses. This is an annual collection. Please be generous in your second collection.

This coming Thursday is the feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa. It is a national holiday in Poland. We, in the United States and in Polish parishes, celebrate this feast also. Mass will be at 7:30 a.m. at St. Joseph.

Beginning Sat., Sept. 4, we will resume Saturday morning Masses at St. Joseph's at 7:30 a.m.

A special THANK YOU to Mr. Joseph Gemborys who trimmed the bushes and trees around the church. May the Lord bless you for taking time out and volunteering for the Church.

Fall Fair Arts and Crafts - thanks to some very talented people, our table has always had beautiful knitted and crocheted items. We would like to add to our selection. I know that we must have talented wood workers, painters, seamstresses and maybe even potters or doll makers and other crafters among our parishioners. I am hoping that you can make one item four our table for the Church Fair in November.
Thank you.

Investments - Wills - Donations: We have been informed by several people that with the new year, the IRS will implement new regulations on your savings and investments. For instance, the capital gains tax will increase by 33%, corporate dividends tax will go up by as much as 200%, plus increases for individuals in the middle income tax bracket. This may be a good time to review your portfolio and consult with your tax and financial advisors on any plans you may have regarding charitable donations, etc. before the end of the year.
