Good News

Jesus changes water into wine at Cana in Galilee. This wedding, which Mary attended and the disciples of Jesus as well, is one for all the people to know, "Who is Jesus?" Jesus begins His public ministry with this wedding according to St. John. We begin Ordinary Time for a few weeks before Lent.

CCD NEWS - Today, Jan. 17th - no CCD, Martin Luther King Weekend. Sun. Jan. 24th, all students will attend 9:00 AM Mass. Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. The Confirmation Class, Grades 9 and 10 and Sponsors will meet from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

During the month of December, we had funeral donations. All monies were deposited in the fuel account. Thank you.

The manger will be kept up until Feb. 2nd, the date on which the Church officially closes out the Christmas season. I will leave it up to remind us that Jesus was presented in the temple on Feb. 2nd. Stop by the manger and give thanks to God.

We begin Christian Unity Week this week. We pray for all churches and people that they be united to God and spread the "Good News" of the Lord.

Relief in Haiti - a special collection will be taken up at all Masses this weekend to aid our Haitian brothers and sisters after the devastating earthquake this past week. Please be generous.

Perpetual Adoration - The Adoration Chapel is in need of more Adorers. Many elderly can no longer commit. If you can do one hour per week, please call Rich Chanley at 632-4733.

St. Joseph's Trotters - tickets will be sold before and after Mass beginning Jan. 16th and 17th for the ham and bean supper to be held Sat., Feb. 6th from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. Donation for the supper is $5.00. Proceeds will benefit the Greater Gardner Relay for Life. Baked goods would be appreciated. Any questions, call Ellie (630-3079) or Mike (632-8457).

As of Jan. 1, 2010, the diocese of Worcester has raised the fee for funeral Masses to $300.00, an increase of $100.00. For people who have pre-paid, the amount of $200.00 stands.

Your pastor will be away on vacation from Jan. 11 - 22. Please note that on Sun., Jan. 17th, the 7 AM Mass will be at 8:30 AM because the priest needs to come from Fitchburg. This is only for this one Sunday while I am away.

By the end of January, everyone who has envelopes or who gives on a regular basis will receive your 2009 donation information for tax purposes. If you have any outstanding envelopes, please pass them in as soon as possible.

Fr. Tom is looking for someone to clean the church. If anyone is interested, please see Fr. Tom ASAP. Thank you.
