Good News

The people were at odds with Jesus. He tries to heal and preach, but the people refuse to listen. They wanted to throw Him out but He left on his own. To keep Christ in our thoughts and minds is to love Him.

CCD NEWS - Today, Sun. Jan. 31st, all students will attend 9:00 AM Mass. Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. On Sun. Feb. 7th , all students will attend 9:00 AM Mass. Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. The Confirmation Class, Grades 9 & 10 will meet from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Catholic Home Missions Appeal - this weekend, a special collection will be taken up to help dioceses in the US that cannot provide basic pastoral services because they are scattered and isolated (Appalachia, Rocky Mts., etc.). Please be generous

Perpetual Adoration - The Adoration Chapel is in need of more Adorers. Many elderly can no longer commit. If you can do one hour per week, please call Rich Chanley at 632-4733.

St. Joseph's Trotters - tickets will be sold before and after Mass beginning Jan. 16th & 17th for the ham & bean supper to be held Sat., Feb. 6th from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. Donation for the supper is $5.00. Proceeds will benefit the Greater Gardner Relay for Life. Baked goods would be appreciated. Any questions, call Ellie (630-3079) or Mike (632-8457).

VALENTINE DINNER - St. Edward the Confessor Church, Westminster, Sat. Feb 6th from 5 - 7 PM. Clam chowder, baked apricot glazed chicken, potato, gravy, stuffing, mixed vegetables, rolls, beverages, cheesecake. $8.00 Adults, $5.00 for children under 12, children under 6 are free.

The Oplatek dinner held on Sun. Jan. 10th, netted $901.52. Thank you to the Rosary Sodality and everyone who helped make it a success. The crowd was small, but all had a good time. God bless. The proceeds went to the Fuel fund.

Next Tues., Feb. 2nd is known as Candlemass Day in the Church. We will bless candles at the 7:30 AM Mass and also say "good-bye" to the Christ Child in the manger. If you have time, come to Mass.

Wed, Feb. 3rd is the feast of St. Blaise. He is the patron of throats. Blessing of throats will take place after Mass at Holy Spirit and at 3 PM at St. Joseph Church.

First Friday of the month is this week. Mass will be at 7:30 AM.

We will soon begin our annual Partners in Charity appeal in the season of Lent. More info in the coming weeks.

10th Anniversary Diocesan Catholic Men's Conference is scheduled for Sat. March 20th at the DCU Center. All parish men, as well as their sons, brothers, fathers and friends are invited.
